Delivery with signature

I am expecting to receive an item that may need a signature. How do I get it?

  • In order to protect both our people and customers as much as possible, we will not be handing over our hand-held devices to customers to capture signatures.
  • Postmen and women will instead log the name of the person accepting the item. This will apply to all deliveries that require a signature. For all customers (including those who are self-isolating) where we need to deliver any parcel that won’t fit through your letterbox, we will place your item at your door. Having knocked on your door, we will then step aside to a safe distance while you retrieve your item. This will ensure your item is delivered securely rather than being left outside.
  • If you are unable to come to the door at all we will issue a ‘Something for You’ card, advising of other ways you can arrange to get your item. For example, by getting a friend or family member to collect the parcel from our local Customer Service Point on your behalf. In this situation, and to keep your mail as secure as possible, they will need to bring along the card we left you and relevant ID.

Receiving your package

In the event of a national lockdown or other event like COVID-19, delivery arrangements will remain in place, and you have the flexibility to store your items with us until such time that you are able to take delivery of the items. The charges for this temporary storage service will be announced by Baird & Co at the time. We strongly advise ensuring adequate household insurance coverage if delivered items are lost while on your property. This precautionary measure helps safeguard against potential losses.

Parcel check

When you receive goods from us by post or courier we advise that you carefully check the external packaging before you sign for it. If you notice any signs of damage or tampering, or if you are in any way unsure about the integrity of the package, you should not accept it. Although not always the case, it is sometimes possible to feel the weight of your item(s) in the package. Package contents are carefully weighed and independently checked by several staff members before being sealed.

What are your delivery methods and costs?

Our packages are discreetly wrapped, and the process is recorded by HD camera and a recording is kept. We deliver your items via Royal Mail Special Delivery if these items are below £2,500 in value. If the value of your order is above £2,500, it will be delivered by a high security logistics courier pre-selected by Baird & Co. Items are fully insured to your personal address and a signature will be required (other couriers may be used at our discretion). We occasionally offer delivery to banks and other institutions on one of our own secure vans at our discretion. It is your responsibility to be present at the specific delivery address, as agreed upon with Baird & Co to accept the delivery in person. When you receive goods from us by post or courier, we advise that you carefully check the external packaging before you sign for it – if you notice any signs of damage or tampering or you are in any way unsure about the integrity of the package you should accept/sign for it. Subject to satisfactory pre-payment and production of the relevant ID documents you may collect in person at our Hatton Garden showroom with our prior approval and appointment. We only accept liability for parcels that are lost or damaged whilst in the care custody and control (CCC) of Royal Mail or another pre-selected courier. Once the carrier confirms delivery, and the parcel is no longer under their CCC, our liability passes to you.

How long will it take to receive my order?

The majority of banks will be able to get the funds to us within 24 hours Some banks will impose a transfer limit and may ask for a fee to make a large, same-day payment. The average waiting time to receive the goods, from the time of the order being placed, is usually within 3 days if paying by CHAPS, a week if paying by BACS, and two weeks via cheque. It is company policy to wait ten working days after receipt of a cheque before sending out the goods, hence the extended wait for delivery if using this method. When delivery times are affected by circumstances beyond our control our website will show a revised delivery schedule.
